Welcome to Aphrodisia Herb Shoppe -- "An experience in Herbs, Spices and Essential Oils". Established in 1969 in the heart of Greenwich Village. We are recognized as one of the oldest and most complete herb and spice shops in the United States.

We invite yo on a tour of our shop. Imagine you are in the market places of the world: Spice Islands, China, India, Moracco. Indulge your senses with the beautiful colors and the tantalizing fragrances of our herbs, spices, flowers and oils.

We begin our tour through the marketplace in our Culinary Herb and Spice section. the cook will discover the exotic: asafoetida, galangal, rasél hanout, and zataár; to the familiar reosemary, parsley and sage. Take a trip south of hte border and sample our salsa and tex-mex blends and a choice of over twenty chile pods, poweders and blends.

The pastry chef will delight in discovering old-fashioned Vanillan poweder, venezquelan chocolates and several varieties of cinnamon.

Continuing our tour, we wander through the Herbal Apothecary. Here the Herbalist will find "folk-lore" herbs to make one's own herbal remedy or sample our herbal tea blends. We carry a large selection of western herbs, as well as a selection of Chinese and Ayurvedic herbs.

We do not advise anyone on the usage of herbs as medicinals and recommend consultation with a health-care professional before treating oneself with herbs.

To the person attoned to the mysterious and magical world of fragrances ... welcome to the essential oil and fragrance shoppe. We invite you to sample our large variety of essential oils, fragrance oils, flowers, potpourri and incense. Our oil room is filled with the heady scents of roses, jasmine, and gardenia; the warming scents of sandalwood, cedarwood and vanilla; and the exotic scents of musk, frankincense and myrrh.

Our "garden" is alive with the colors of roses, lavender, malvas and cornflowers.

Our "potpourri shoppe" is filled with a combination of scents from the delicate "rose bouquet" to the exotic "mountain mystery".

Next stop -- our "body care shop" filled with top quality preparations as well as bulk ingredients for skin and hair. We carry a wide selection of hand-made soups.

In addition we carry a wide selection of gift items: Teapots, Tea Towels, Kitchen goods and more!
